We've got a man down, Dude. [31 Oct 2008|03:56pm]

His name's even Donny:

A Michigan man who bowled his first perfect game immediately collapsed in the bowling alley and died.

Don Doane belonged to the same team at a bowling alley for 45 years.

On Oct. 16 at Ravenna Bowl, he scored a perfect 300.

As he was being congratulated by his teammates, local television reports said Doane collapsed on the floor.

The 62-year-old was taken to a local hospital but could not be saved. A medical examiner later determined that a heart attack killed Doane.

Good night, sweet prince.

October is National Lebowski Awareness Month. You can celebrate by grooming your marmot and observing the following important dates:

October 12th - Lebowski Fest Turns 3 Years Old!

It was three years ago that the Baptist-run bowling alley was rented out in the seediest part of Louisville, Kentucky and welcomed the "1st Annual Big Lebowski What-Have-You Fest" or "Lebowski Fest" if you're into the whole brevity thing. We highly recommend the video tour of our humble beginnings at the Fellowship Lanes. Who knew there were so many Achievers out there?

October 18th - Special Edition DVD Released

At long last, the Special Edition DVD is being released. It will be available in widescreen format or as the Achiever Gift Set complete with bowling ball shammy, postcards with photos by Jeff Bridges, coasters and what-have-you. We will be giving away tons of DVDs including the gift set both nights in New York. All 20 costume finalists will be given a DVD at the main event so get those costumes ready!

October 21st and 22nd - Lebowski Fest New York!

Our second bite of the Big Apple is shaping up to be ridiculously delicious. The Opening Ceremonies at The Knitting Factory will feature New York's own Metal Air Supply tribute band - Hair Supply, returning champion super-group Bling Kong and Corn Mo with the Corn Mo Band! This will be followed by a midnight screening of the movie and DVD giveaways with Jeff "The Dude" Dowd. The other two floors will be rocked by Herbal Nation, Less, Bebek, Harris and Tied For Last. Hopefully we'll have some surpri! se visit ors like before. Doors are at 8 pm. Check out the full schedule here. The main event will be at the double-decker Cozy Bowl and all contest winners will get a copy of the Achiever Gift Set!

Tickets are still available. Get your tickets here!

Thank you for observing National Lebowski Awareness Month.

Greetings:
I wrote a paper on Walter Sobchak for my Abnormal Psych class just so I would have an excuse to watch TBL repeatedly.

My husband and I rode through Germany saying "lingonberry pancake" to each other for no apparent reason and we drink more than our fair share of White Russians.

I feel like an Urban Achiever already.

Finger in the Chili [22 Apr 2005|06:03pm]

wisenaboo
I'm sure you've all heard about the women who found a fingertip in her chili at wendi's and then sued - well as it turns out it was a hoax, and it was likely she that put the finger in the chili in the first place.

The interesting part about the story is that when asked about where the finger came from she responded "You want a finger? I can get you a finger, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me. Hell, I can get you a finger by 3 o'clock this afternoon... in a bowl of chili."

Self Description [08 Jan 2005|10:13pm]

What is it that defines us as individuals? Do we see ourselves as our job, our love, our senses, our family?

How do you know where one person ends and another begins?

So I joined a few days ago just haven't said anything yet. However last night at work a co-worker and I were quoting the movie nearly all night long. Between -Shut the fuck up Donnie your out of your element- to the whole spiel about shoving guns up asses and pullings triggers until they go click and whatnot it was an interesting night to say the least.

Not to mention that The Eagles came on the overhead system and my coworker truely does fucking hate them. *Smirks.* Good times good times.

So that was it really. Just sitting here watching the movie and remarveling that Flea is in it. I always forget that and about every fifth viewing I tend to go -Oh shit! It's Flea.- Oh that and drooling over Steve. Mmmm Steve. *Purrrs.*

Well I'll stop rambling now. Just yup...I'm here. And that's about it.

And what did I order? A white russian, of course.

Identity [24 Oct 2004|01:04pm]

wisenaboo
(this post is left vague, so that it doesn't spoil anything for those that might see the movie later).
I just watched the movie "Identity" for the first time - it was quite a twisted little movie, but in the middle of the frightening bits, there was one scene that just made me crack up. Two cops are yelling questions at the desk man (named Larry), such as "Is this your key, Larry?"
I kept waiting for him to show Larry what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass, but he never did.
